A new colour without touching your paint, and without the resale problem a respray creates. Gloss, satin, matte, chrome and colour shift, wrapped in Al Garhoud.
A wrap changes the colour of your car using vinyl film laid over the factory paint. The paint underneath is untouched and protected, and when you sell the car or hand back the lease, the wrap comes off and the original finish is still there. That is the whole argument for wrapping over respraying, and in a market where resale value matters as much as it does in Dubai, it is a strong one.
A full colour change in Dubai is legal, but it is a regulated process rather than a shop decision, and most wrap enquiries we get have not been told this.
We will tell you at quoting stage whether the wrap you want is a registrable colour change or a partial that does not require one, and we will walk you through the steps. Bring us the car, not a surprise at inspection.
Wrap when you want a different colour, a finish paint cannot easily give you such as satin, chrome or colour shift, or when you want it reversible. Vinyl also protects the paint underneath from sun and light abrasion while it is on.
Respray when the existing paint is damaged. Vinyl needs a sound surface. It will not hide dents, and it will not stick reliably to peeling clear coat or flaking paint. Wrapping a failing panel just moves the problem under the film.
Paint protection film when you like your colour and want to keep it perfect. PPF is clear, much thicker than vinyl, and made to absorb stone impact rather than to change appearance.
Owners frequently combine them: PPF on the front end for impact, wrap over the rest for colour.
| Finish | Looks Like | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gloss | Factory paint | The safe, clean colour change. Widest colour range and the easiest to maintain. |
| Satin | Between gloss and matte | Currently the most requested finish in Dubai. Hides light imperfection better than gloss. |
| Matte | Flat, no reflection | Dramatic, but needs matte-safe washing. Never polish it. |
| Chrome and mirror | Polished metal | Highest impact and highest cost. Difficult to install and less forgiving over complex curves. |
| Colour shift | Changes hue with viewing angle | Premium option. Confirm the registered colour description with RTA at approval stage. |
| Carbon fibre and brushed metal | Textured technical finish | Usually used on accents, roofs and interior trim rather than full cars. |
| Printed custom | Anything you design | For commercial branding and one-off graphics. |
Not every job is a full colour change. The most requested partials are a gloss black roof, black mirror caps, a bonnet or roof stripe, and chrome delete, which is wrapping the window surrounds, grille trim and badges in gloss or satin black to remove the factory brightwork.
Chrome delete transforms how a car reads for a fraction of a full wrap, and because it is not a colour change it does not require the registration process.
For businesses, we produce printed vehicle branding for fleets and single vehicles, matched across every unit so a five-van fleet actually looks like a fleet.
Three things drive the price: the size and complexity of the vehicle, the film you choose, and how much disassembly the job needs. A saloon in standard gloss vinyl and a large SUV in chrome are at opposite ends of the range.
Chrome and colour-shift films cost several times what standard gloss costs, and they are far harder to install, which shows up in labour as well as material.
A quote well under the market usually means cheap calendared vinyl and a fitter who is not removing trim. Both show up within a year as lifted edges and shrinking film. Send us your make, model and year on WhatsApp with the finish you want and we will price it properly.
Manufacturers quote five to seven years for premium cast vinyl. In the UAE, plan on three to five for a car parked outdoors, and toward the upper end for a car kept in a basement or covered parking.
Horizontal panels go first because they take the most direct sun, so a roof and bonnet may need attention before the doors do.
To get the long end of that range: hand wash rather than brush tunnels, keep the pressure washer away from edges and seams, remove bird droppings promptly, and park undercover when you can. Matte and satin finishes need a dedicated matte-safe shampoo, because normal polish will gloss up patches and cannot be undone.
CarBros is at Showroom No. 3, 8th Street, next to HMS Al Garhoud Hospital, Al Garhoud, Dubai, open seven days from 9:00 AM until midnight. We wrap cars for owners across Dubai and Sharjah, and we can hold the car through the RTA inspection stage if you would rather we handled that end of it.
It depends on vehicle size, the film you choose and how much trim has to be removed. Standard gloss vinyl on a saloon sits at one end of the range and chrome or colour-shift film on a large SUV at the other, because those films cost several times more and are considerably harder to fit. Send CarBros your make, model, year and preferred finish on WhatsApp for a firm quote.
No, when the paint is sound and the wrap is removed properly with heat. Vinyl actually shields the paint from sun and light abrasion while it is on. The exception is paint that was already failing, peeling clear coat or a poor previous respray, where removal can lift what was already loose. We check for this before quoting.
Manufacturers quote five to seven years for premium cast vinyl. In UAE conditions, expect three to five years for a car parked outdoors and longer for one kept undercover. Roofs and bonnets age fastest because they take the most direct sun.
Over a sound respray, yes, provided the paint is fully cured. Over dents, rust or flaking clear coat, no. Vinyl follows the surface it is laid on, so it will not hide a dent and it will not bond reliably to failing paint.
Avoid brush tunnels. The brushes catch edges and seams and lift them. Hand washing or touchless is what keeps a wrap looking right, and matte or satin finishes need a matte-safe shampoo rather than anything containing polish.
